Grammys Omitted R&B Legend Reggie Lucas From In Memoriam Segment, Drawing Outrage

Among many achievements, the late R&B and jazz legend Reggie Lucas played in Miles Davis’ touring band, composed hit songs and produced Madonna’s debut album.  But during Sunday night’s broadcast of the Grammy Awards, he was missing from the “In Memoriam” segment, sparking criticism from fans and viewers — including his daughter Lisa, the executive director of the National Book Foundation. She tweeted that she was “fully offended” and “so enraged” that “the Grammys forgot” her Grammy-winning father. I feel some kind of way that the Grammys forgot my dad, a Grammy winner, in the In Memoriam section. I’m actually fully offended. — Lisa Lucas (@likaluca) February 11, 2019 I’m still so enraged by this. Maybe moreso this morning. — Lisa Lucas (@likaluca) February 11, 2019 Other ...

People Think Katy Perry’s Pink Grammy’s Dress Looks Like Cotton Candy And Cake

While the top of the strapless gown has a structured, silver and pink top, the rest of it balloons into a textured, Papier-mâché-like look. The Grammys All But Ignored 21 Savage’s ICE Detainment

The Grammy Awards on Sunday was chock full of heart-stopping performances and thought-provoking acceptance speeches. But one major issue went largely unacknowledged: rapper 21 Savage’s arrest by Immigration and Customs Enforcement a week earlier. Most producers and musicians at the ceremony steered clear of his detainment ― one of the most prominent news stories of the last week. ICE agents arrested the “Bank Account” rapper ― whose given name is She’yaa Bin Abraham-Joseph ― on Feb. 3 for overstaying a visa. ICE said 21 Savage is a British native who legally entered the U.S. in 2005 as a minor and overstayed his visa, which expired in July 2006. His lawyers argue that he has never hidden his immigration status. If he is deported, he could be barred from returning to the U.S. for 10 years. ...

Ariana Grande Deletes Mac Miller Tweets After ‘Bulls**t’ And ‘Trash’ Grammys Snub

Ariana Grande’s beef with the Grammys just got more serious.  The “thank u, next” hitmaker angrily tweeted ― then deleted ― choice words for the award show after it snubbed her late ex-boyfriend, rapper Mac Miller, in the Best Rap Album category. Miller, whose real name is Malcolm McCormick, died from an accidental overdose of cocaine and fentanyl in September 2018.  “Fuck,” she wrote in a since-deleted tweet, before writing “trash” and “Literal bullshit. Bullshit.” She added that Miller slept in the studio for two months making his final album, “Swimming,” and that she was upset that the Academy invited Miller’s parents to be there.  When a fan pointed out that the Academy invited his parents but didn’t give him an award, Grande responded in agreement.  “This. this is what I meant. Karen ...

Cardi B Becomes First Solo Woman To Win Grammy Award For Best Rap Album

The Grammys like Cardi B and she likes it like that.  The Bronx-born rapper made history at the 2019 Grammy Awards on Sunday night by picking up the trophy for Best Rap Album, becoming the first solo female rapper to do so in the category’s 20-plus year history. Lauryn Hill won as a member of the hip-hop group Fugees in 1997. It’s not like Cardi B even needed the award given how she’d already shut down the red carpet in a vintage couture gown, followed by a show-stopping performance of her new single “Money.” But nothing could compare to the raw emotion she showed in her acceptance speech.  Besting fellow nominees Nipsey Hussle, Pusha T, Travis Scott and the late Mac Miller, the clearly shocked rapper took the stage to deliver a peak Cardi speech.  Why yes our girls @chloexhalle DID get th...

Lady Gaga Performs ‘Shallow’ Without Bradley Cooper At Grammys And Delivers

Tell me something, girl… were you ready for Lady Gaga’s performance at the 2019 Grammys? The singer took the stage at Los Angeles’ Staples Center on Sunday night to bring her duet from the hit romance “A Star Is Born.” Gaga performed sans co-star Bradley Cooper, but the event was all the more extra for it. Before she even had the chance to “HAAA AH AH AH AAAH,” the singer sometimes known as Stefani Germanotta had already picked up three awards for her album “Joanne” and the record-breaking song from the film. Without Cooper on her arm, Gaga energetically performed both parts of the duet, using her lower register for her co-star’s parts before unleashing her famous belt on the song’s chorus. The Golden Globe winner was joined by frequent collaborator Mark Ronson, who performed with Ga...

2019 Grammy Awards: The Wildest And Weirdest Red Carpet Looks

The 2019 Grammy Awards red carpet had multiple MAGA moments and more than a few fashion faux pas on Sunday night at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. Singer and notorious red carpet troll Joy Villa showed up in a border wall-inspired dress, complete with a “Make America Great Again” purse and barbed wire-like material on her shoulders. Rich Fury via Getty Images Joy Villa attends the 2019 Grammy Awards at Staples Center on Feb. 10 in Los Angeles. Singer Ricky Rebel, another supporter of President Donald Trump, turned heads with a reversible white-to-blue sequined jacket that sported the words “Trump,” “2020” and “Keep America Great!” He paired the mirrored jacket with matching sunglasses, white pants and calf-length, heeled white boots.  Rebel explained that he wore the jacket to promote ...

Kylie Jenner’s Grammys Look Is A Confusing Pink Mess

Kylie Jenner showed up to the 2019 Grammys Awards red carpet on Sunday in a long-sleeved, pink pantsuit creation that looked like a cross between a Yeezy Barbie doll and a look from “The Breakfast Club.”  The Balmain look from the design house’s Spring/Summer 2019 Couture collection featured a halter top flared out into pink gloves and oversized pants, complete with a white and silver belt and matching pink heels. The beauty mogul and mother of superstar Stormi Webster wore her hair up and accessorized with Lorraine Schwartz diamonds.  She walked the carpet with her boyfriend, “Sicko Mode” rapper Travis Scott, who is nominated for three Grammy Awards.  Matt Winkelmeyer via Getty Images Kylie Jenner’s 2019 Grammys look was confusing. Disney’s Live-Action ‘Aladdin’ Trailer Reveals Will Smith’s Genie; Laughs Ensue

An extended look at the live-action iteration of Disney’s “Aladdin” aired during Sunday night’s Grammy Awards, and it’s shining, shimmering, splendid! We learned about the Guy Ritchie-directed film last year and that Will Smith had signed on as the hilariously silly Genie. While the original role was played by the late Robin Williams and can never be duplicated, Smith’s appearance in this most recent trailer proves he’s most certainly bringing the snark.  Smith shared a few snapshots of his Genie on his Instagram after the trailer aired.  “I told y’all I was gon’ be Blue!!” he wrote in his caption.  The reaction to Smith’s, uh, blueness went over as expected on Twitter: In ancient Arabia, bottled and raised,at the cave of wondersspending most of my dayschillin’ out maxin’ relaxin’ all coolg...

Michelle Obama Made A Surprise Appearance At The 2019 Grammys And People Freaked

The 2019 Grammy Awards started off with a bang Sunday night.  Alicia Keys began her opening monologue by bringing out an iconic cast of women, including former first lady Michelle Obama. Lady Gaga, Jada Pinkett Smith and Jennifer Lopez joined as well to share what music has done for them over the years.  “They said I was weird. That my look, my choices, my sound, that it wouldn’t work. But music told me not to listen to them,” Lady Gaga said to the cheering crowd. Lopez added that music gave her “a reason to dance” and brought her the success she has today.  “It reminds me of where I come from but it also reminds me of all the places I can go,” she continued. “Music has always been the place we can all feel truly free.”  Pinkett Smith reminded the crowd that we “express our pain, power and...

Bebe Rexha To Body-Shaming Designers: ‘You Wish You Had Dressed My Fat A**’

Bebe Rexha brought a valentine vibe to the 2019 Grammy Awards red carpet.  The pop songstress, who is nominated for Best New Artist and Best Country Duo/Group Performance, appeared at Sunday’s ceremony in a flowing red gown with plunging neckline by designer Monsoori. The look was accentuated with diamond jewelry.  “I feel like a princess,” she told E! News host Ryan Seacrest. “I wanted to go for that vibe.” Lester Cohen via Getty Images “I feel like a princess,” Bebe Rexha said. “I wanted to go for that vibe.” All eyes had been on Rexha for the past month, when she called out a number of unspecified designers for declining to dress her for the Grammy Awards because she is a size 8.  “I had my team hit out a lot of designers and a lot of them do not want to dress me because I’m too big,” s...
