March 17 (Reuters) – Dick Dale, who became known as “king of the surf guitar” with a twangy rapid-fire, reverb-heavy sound that he said recreated what he heard in his head while riding the waves, has died at 81, his former bass player Sam Bolle told Reuters. Dale, whose work included the 1962 hit “Misirlou” that was featured in the film “Pulp Fiction,” died on Saturday night. Dale’s music was one of the dominant sounds of Southern California’s car-and-beach culture in the late 1950s and early ’60s. He was widely considered the creator of instrumental surf music and an influence on scores of noted bands and guitarists, including Jimi Hendrix, the Beach Boys and Eddie Van Halen. R. Kelly Sings ‘I Believe I Can Lie’ In Jimmy Kimmel’s Remix

After mocking the singer, who is accused of sexual abuse, for his banking habits and for bringing a puppy on a helicopter, Kimmel changed gears. “It’s easy to forget that R. Kelly is a musician, and I think it’s important to remind everyone of that,” he said. Cue the “Jimmy Kimmel Live” remix of Kelly’s hit “I Believe I Can Fly,” synced with Kelly’s quotes from the interview with Gayle King. Suffice it to say, the new verse, “I believe I can lie,” isn’t quite as heartfelt as the singer’s original hit. Watch the whole bit above or you can cut to the song at the 3:29 mark.

John Legend Composes A Song About Anilingus On ‘Desus & Mero’ (NSFW)

“Desus & Mero” enlisted John Legend to write a song about anilingus Thursday ― and the EGOT-winning performer did not disappoint. While Desus Nice and The Kid Mero, the hosts of the new Showtime talk show, went low with funny but crass lyrics, Legend tried to show the guys how to class it up by avoiding an explicit reference to the oral-anal sex act. “You wanna say it without saying it,” Legend explained. Then Legend displayed the musical whiz that he is, crafting a catchy tune that could climb the charts if it weren’t for, well, you know. Ladies and gentlemen, we give you “Chocolate Galaxy.” Watch Legend’s genius at work above.
